The following encapsulates the key characteristics that we seek to cultivate in our students throughout their K-12 education at Cincinnati Classical Academy. These characteristics serve as the end goals that guide the content-rich classical education we provide. It is our goal that by the end of a Cincinnati Classical education our students will embody the following characteristics, which are essential for civic virtue, moral character, and lifelong learning.
Civic Virtue
(relating to responsible citizenship)
CLASSICAL GRADUATES:
- recognize that freedom requires discipline and exercise their freedom responsibly
- honor individuals, historical and contemporary, who have played important roles in preserving freedoms we all benefit from
- are well-informed and engaged citizens equipped for self-governance
- are able and willing to engage in constructive and respectful civil discourse
- are patriotic, acting as discerning “sentinels” of shared traditions and patrimony
- properly exercise their rights of citizenship and selflessly carry out their duties and responsibilities
- love their neighbors as themselves
Moral Character
(relating to living the virtuous life)
CLASSICAL GRADUATES:
- are respectful, responsible, and honest in word and deed
- respond with compassion and care to others experiencing life’s challenges and struggles
- act as torchbearers of all that is good, true, and beautiful
- recognize the inherent dignity in themselves and others and work tireless to preserve that dignity
- respect and attend to the needs of the most vulnerable, including the young and the elderly
- develop and cherish authentic, deep relationships
- overcome difficulties with resilience and resourcefulness
Lifelong Learning

- approach the world with a sense of wonder and curiosity
- demonstrate intellectual humility and teachability
- are equipped to discern truth from error
- have a storehouse of memorized poetry, speeches, and drama
- have the ability to organize, analyze, and comprehend language
- have mature, logical reading, thinking, writing, and speaking skill
